Meet the founders behind Project GIFT

Kevin and Katana Brooks founded Project GIFT with a simple, heartfelt mission: Getting Involved & Forming Togetherness. Discover our journey, our family's vision, and how we work each day to bridge the gap between first responders and the neighborhoods they protect.

Born from service and humble beginnings

Growing up in poverty, Kevin Brooks understood firsthand what it felt like to need a helping hand. That lived experience fostered a lifelong desire to serve others. Kevin entered public safety in 2014, working in security before moving into law enforcement. Through his years on the frontlines, he saw an urgent need to build authentic bonds of trust and mutual respect between officers and local neighborhoods.

Healing hearts through care and devotion

Katana Brooks always carried a deep passion to uplift those facing adversity. After working varied jobs to build a foundation, she pursued healthcare and earned her credentials as a Registered Nurse. Balancing life as a nurse, mother, and student, Katana brings vital empathy, care, and practical support to Project GIFT. Her career in medicine reinforces the understanding that every person deserves dignity and care.

A family dream: Getting Involved & Forming Togetherness

When Kevin and Katana started their family, they made it their priority to teach their children the profound value of serving others. As their children grew, they joined together as a family to turn that vision into reality, launching Project GIFT (Getting Involved & Forming Togetherness). Originally funded entirely out of their own pockets, their mission remains clear: bringing genuine joy, mutual understanding, and shared hope to our communities.

"We believe that no man nor woman is perfect. Everyone is created equal through our faith, and we are all brothers and sisters no matter what uniform we wear. With love, humanization, and belief, anything is possible."
